The Scientific Archivists Group organise a number of regular and ad hoc events of interest to members. Our main showpiece is the SAG Conference, which usually takes place in Spring. These are held in various locations around the UK but we also schedule them in continental Europe every two to three years. Our aim is that the conferenes combine low cost with high quality, beneficial content.
In addition, SAG runs training courses and workshops around archiving and records management related topics, sometimes in collaboration with other professional associations.
We try to ensure that our events contain a good balance of material for both the newcomer to archiving/records management as well as for the more experienced professional. Our conference always includes plenty of opportunity to network with industry colleagues.
Without diminishing the value and importance of the formal presentations, it is true to say that these networking opportunities are often the most valuable to our members. And of course our conference dinner is an opportunity not to be missed!
